Heartbroken, shocked and in disbelief that our mega-iconic legend Dolly Parton has died.
Remembering with such affection as her music and comedic genius on stage as an actress has filled my entire life.
Playing Miss Mona in The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas was absolutely compelling, with costars Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise and Charles Durning. Just as superb was Dolly in the epic 9 to 5 movie where she played Doralee Rhodes with Jane Fonda (Judy Bernly) and Lily Tomlin (Violet Newstead).
Favourites songs for me, by Dolly include: I Will Always Love You (both the original recording in 1974 and again in 1982), Hard Candy Christmas (1982), God’s Colouring Book (1999), Peace Train with Ladysmith Black Mambazo. (2007).
