Jezz’s 50th
The evening before the wedding, so, Friday 5 November 2021, we booked several tables at Bill’s restaurant, Brighton, to cater for 20 people. I needed to be able to look back and know that although the wedding was my 50th birthday present to him, I wanted a separate birthday evening or meal. We managed to combine it by having 20 of the wedding guests there the evening before. The budget of the wedding also meant that we were able to afford to pay for everyone’s food.

They’re ready for a night on the town… no, well, OK… a meal at Bill’s to celebrate Jezz’s 50th birthday. We lost Deb and Jim for a while… if only they’d worn something a little brighter… we might have seen them sooner.
In the hotel room, above the bed, headboard end, was this shelf that made we good use of displaying Jezz’s 50th birthday cards which we kept separate from the wedding cards.
Inspired by the actual record that is our tune, It Must Be Love by Labi Siffre, on Pye Records from 1971. The image is printed onto edible icing, and the cake underneath is red velvet and cream cheese sponge cake.
Using our regular bakers, The Cake Store in Sydenham, I had them make a record player and personalise it with the 7″ vinyl label, “It Must Be Love” by Labi Siffre. It also had indoor fireworks, too.
We were in a corner of the upstairs and with Jezz and I, there were 20 of us.

I arranged to have a birthday cake with fireworks and candles. The cake is of a record deck turntable with a vinyl record on it which shows the label of “It Must Be Love” by Labi Siffre, our song.
Kelly decides to display a battery lit candle in her outfit and illuminates the room… well her chest.
