We arrive and check-in to our room at The Hilton Brighton Metropole and take photos of us both on the balcony with the view of the West Pier behind.

This photo was taken by Debbie and encapsulates Brighton perfectly.

This photo was taken by Jim, a gorgeous sunset with the West Pier just over the road from our hotel room.

Michèle kindly bought us a pre-wedding gift of two personalised Champagne flutes with our names, Wayne Alton and Jezz Alton engraved on them.

With the unpacking done and photos taken, the next thing to do was open the first bottle of bubbly.

Jezz had arranged to buy me something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. This was the something old. Traditionally, the father of the bride would slip a sixpence into his daughter’s shoe before she walked down the aisle. The sixpence stood for good luck.

Jezz had arranged to buy me something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. This was the new… a beautiful pair of silver cufflinks. They are tubes that open at one end and reveal a personal message written on a piece of paper by Jezz.

Jezz had arranged to buy me something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. This was the borrowed and it’s a cast of a seashore pebble that was borrowed for casting and then returned. It also has an inscription which says: “You Are My Rock. I love You.”

Jezz had arranged to buy me something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. This was the blue. It’s an amazing and massive blue crystal. It’s such a gorgeous colour and sits proudly next to my Swarovski heart-shape crystal.

Jezz bought me this amazing card, made from heart with a cut-out heart shape and the words You & Me inside.

Amanda and the cake stand proud in the centre of the room. It’s a 6-tier rainbow wedding cake. The bottom three tiers are brandy in-fused fruit cake and the top three are traditional Victoria sponge cake. So amazing and one of the highlights of the entire event. Also, if that wasn’t enough, the fabulous base is a wooden slice with personalised with pyrography artwork… Mr & Mr Alton. And to finish it off beautifully, Amanda arranged for a replica of Jezz and I as the cake topper (well, not actual size… that would’ve been a little messy).

The electronic screen display in the reception area of the hotel shows the events taking place and we’re there, complete with photo. Someone sent us this, may have been Jake, as Jezz and I were in our room and then decorating the party room and would’ve missed it.

Jezz poses on the one of the sofas in our room. He wanted to show off his new shoes before WhatsApp’ing the photo down the corridor to Deb and Jim, who bought them for him.

Jake gave me this and I now carry it with me everywhere I go. He picked up a pebble from the beach and drew “W+J forever” on it.

Kelly took a rock and wrote: ‘Wayne loves Jezz Brighton, 06.11.21.’ She placed it back on the beach. Imagine carry that around with me in my bag, everywhere!

Jezz and I try out the PhotoFrame, prior to the flower wall being positioned behind it.
